UnionPay MoneyExpress is a cross-border remittance facilitation service provided by UnionPay International.

Overseas senders can conveniently transfer funds to UnionPay debit cards issued by major Chinese banks, including Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), Bank of China (BOC), China Construction Bank (CCB), Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank, China Everbright Bank, Huaxia Bank, Bank of Dalian, and many other national and regional banks (covering more than 79 banks across China).

Funds are automatically settled within the recipient’s annual personal foreign exchange quota in mainland China. The recipient receives RMB directly into their UnionPay-linked bank account and can use the funds for spending or cash withdrawal upon arrival.

Unlike traditional cross-border bank wire transfers, MoneyExpress locks in the exchange rate at the time of transfer. Funds are credited directly in RMB to the UnionPay bank account. The recipient does not need to perform foreign exchange conversion, and no additional bank handling fee is required. Settlement is processed in real time.

Under the European regulatory framework, both banks and licensed payment institutions are recognized as Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and may legally provide remittance services. Yaband Remit is operated by the licensed Dutch payment institution YabandPay and is subject to regulatory supervision.

Traditional cross-border bank transfers are typically processed through the SWIFT network. The sending bank, receiving bank, and potentially intermediary banks exchange payment messages and settle funds. This process often involves multiple steps, may take several business days, and may incur intermediary bank charges, resulting in a relatively complex cost structure.

As a UnionPay International member institution, Yaband Remit leverages the UnionPay network and cooperating banks in China to complete fund clearing and payout directly to UnionPay bank accounts. Compared to traditional cross-border bank routes, the settlement chain is more streamlined and processing efficiency is improved.
